A 22-year-old fast-food employee was shot and killed over a delayed food order.

According to local news, the incident occurred on Saturday at a Burger King on the 7000 block of E. Colonial Drive.

Police say the fast-food establishment was busy that night, and the drive-thru was backed up, forcing a longer-than-usual wait time. However, things took a turn for the worse when a woman got out of her car to complain about the delay.

During the disturbance, the woman threatened to call “her man” to the restaurant. As a result, an employee refunded her $40 and asked her to leave.

Eventually, the woman left, but a short time later, she returned with a man, who has since been identified as 37-year-old Kelvis Rodriguez-Tormes. He then told the 22-year-old employee, identified as Desmond Armond Joshua, to “fight him.”

According to police, a witness broke up the fight when the 37-year-old put Joshua in a headlock and choked him. That’s when Rodriguez-Tormes went to his truck and pulled a gun, telling Joshua, “You got two seconds before I shoot you.”

The man then pulled the trigger and fled the scene. Police arrived shortly thereafter and found Joshua with a gunshot wound.

He was then transported to a local hospital where he died. Police say he had just started working at the fast-food restaurant a few days prior.

The suspects were interviewed after the incident, in which Rodriguez-Tormes revealed that he fired the gun in the incident and placed it “in a location which cannot be located.”

He was then charged with first-degree murder with a firearm, destruction of evidence, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
